Instructions

Sketch the floor plan of the room (and include any bump outs or structural supports that are in the room as well as approximate location of any overhead lighting).

Take a measurement from the extreme ends of the room.

Draw an elevation of each wall. Make sure you draw any windows, doors, built in cabinetry or AC units that exist on the wall. Also note the floor-to-ceiling height dimension.

Start at one end of the wall you just drew, and measure the distance from that corner of the wall to the next feature on the wall (this could be a window, door, fireplace, built in cabinetry, or you might have a flat wall and make it to the other corner). Mark down the measurement in feet and inches and continue on measuring until you’ve reached the opposite side of that wall.

Note any details you see when looking at the wall, locations of any switches, outlets,
wall sconces or air vents, and mark their heights and widths.

Repeat steps 3, 4 and 5 until you’ve drawn an elevation of each wall.
